Delmar HaroldElza,77, of Valrico, FL passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Born in Whitmer, WV, he was retired as a Police Officer from Baltimore City Police Department and as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. Mr. Elza always enjoyed his time in Florida and became a Valrico resident in 1999 when he moved from Pasadena, MD. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church and also held memberships with the Brandon Lion's Club, Fraternal Order of Police, and the Maryland Masonic Union 60 & Chapter 225. He volunteered at Echo and enjoyed reading and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Sam Elza, son; Keith Elza, daughters; Bonita "Boni" Bacaicua, Mary "Nan" Nawrocki, Kathy Elza-Brown, brother; John Elza, sister; Sandra Judy, three grandchildren; PFC Darren George, Victoria George, Christina Bonaccorse and two great grandchildren; Haylie and Colten George. He was preceded in death by his sisters Shelva Cross and Jenny Vance, and brothers; Tom Elza and Bales (Bud) Elza. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park. Memorial Donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police.
