Reed, David C., passed on to eternal life suddenly on Monday, January 23, 2017, in Macon, Georgia. David C. Reed was born on July 4, 1937 in Stewart County, Tennessee. He met the love of his life, Barbara (Barfield) and married her on February 16, 1956. They spent 61 wonderful years together and cherished each other dearly. David was and will always be appreciated, respected and loved by his entire family. He is survived by his and Barbara's two children: Cindy Reed and David D (Lisa) Reed. He was affectionately known as "Pappy" to his six grandchildren: Jeffrey (Joanna) Reidy, Jr., Rhyan (Russell) Baker, Lindsey Reed, Krista (Jacob) Reed, Tommy Reed and Sammy Reed; and four great-grandchildren: Jeffrey III, Cory, Makinzi and Olivia. He also lovingly cared for three loyal dogs throughout his lifetime: Glacier, Ginger and Sadie. David proudly served his country for 26 years in the United States Air Force with tours of duty in Turkey and Vietnam. He founded Reed's Swimming Pools and Service, Inc. in 1981 and served the Tampa Bay Area community with integrity for over 30 years. David was an exceptional athlete, playing football, baseball, and basketball in his younger years, fast pitch softball well into his forties and golfing into his seventies. He spent numerous years coaching youth baseball and football. Needless to say, he was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Kentucky Wildcats basketball. Later in life, David found joy in traveling the beautiful United States in his RV with Barbara and passed his love of the road on to his children and grandchildren. Above all, David C. Reed was a selfless, hard-working man who loved his family deeply. "He was the best man I ever knew and ever will know." There will be a funeral service for David on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 7:00pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior.
