David Addison (Bud) New went to be with his Heavenly Father Friday, December 6 2019. He was 89 years old, born on Sunday, September 7 1930 in Erwin North Carolina.

A child of the depression, he picked tobacco in his youth to help the family get by. David was a good and responsible man. Faith and family were his highest priorities.

He was proud to have been a United States Marine.  We are honored to recognize his valiant service in Korea, for which he was awarded a purple heart.

David worked in shipbuilding, including on the aircraft carrier the Enterprise, and in later years at Tampa Ship under the ownership of George Steinbrenner.

He was a lifelong fan of the Carolina Tar Heels, as well as the Boston Red Sox.

David had quadruple bypass heart surgery in the late 1980's. He said his surgeon told him it should last him for ten years. We are so very grateful that it lasted many more.

David was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Brandon.

He is survived by Marjorie Epperson New, his beloved wife of 60 years, his daughter Michele, his son David, David's wife Amanda and his granddaughter Lila.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 12 at 6:00pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home 6919 Providence Road, Riverview Fl. with the family receiving friends for a visitation until 8:00pm
