Obituary

Daniel C. Miller, of Valrico, died Friday, Jan. 26, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and heart issues at 80. Dan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith Svenson; their two daughters, Melora and Lori; and their three grandchildren, Dustin, Mavery, and Dalton. Dan grew up in Houlton, ME, as the only child of Floyd Miller and Evelyn Moores. He and Judy traded the severe winters of New England for the balmy climate of Tampa and never looked back. Dan worked for Tampa Electric Company for 28 years. He was a loving, gregarious family man who was happiest trading anecdotes over a good meal with family and friends. Dan's other favorite activities included reading as many books as possible, watching old movies, and telling tall tales to his children and grandchildren. He imparted values such as a strong work ethic, integrity, equality, faith, kindness, and an unequivocal desire to support his family financially and emotionally. He will be missed. A Viewing will be on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 9-10 am at Nativity Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 am at the church.
