Obituary

Daniel W. Coleman lost his battle with cancer and died while holding the hands of his wife and daughter on January 19, 2025, in Riverview, Florida, at the age of 67.

Dan is survived by his wife, Drey, and daughter, Aubrey. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Charlie Burnsed, his sister, Michelle Coleman and sister-in-law, Colleen Coleman.  His brother, David Coleman, predeceased Dan on March 31, 2022.  Dan was beloved Uncle to his nieces, nephews and their children.

Dan was born on August 19,1957, to Joel and Elizabeth (Beth) Coleman in Tampa, Florida; however, his father was in the military and the family moved numerous times until his father's untimely death in 1968.  The family then resettled in the Tampa area to be near family.

After graduating from high school in 1975, Dan joined the Air Force and was stationed in California at Travis AFB.  There he completed training as an electrician and was honorably discharged after four years of service.  Dan returned to the Tampa area and worked as an electrician primarily in construction until he joined GTE Data Services in 1984, where he was in data center facilities management and network cabling.  It was there he met Drey and on July 1, 1993, Dan and Drey were married in a small ceremony in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  Later that year, the couple welcomed their little miracle, Aubrey.  In 1995, the three moved from their home in South Tampa to their current home in Valrico.

Dan, Drey and Aubrey were blessed with an idyllic life full of laughter, family, friends and food!  Their home was lovingly referred to as "Casa de Coleman".  Dan's laugh was as infectious as his ability to share his love.  Dan was fond of the water, boating, fishing and lounging by the pool or beach.  His dream was to someday build the couple's dream home on the water and that planning was underway at the time of his death.  So the dream was never to be realized.

Dan always said if he had a superpower, he would want it to be able to fly.  We hope he is flying above us and bringing his genuine love and strength to us as we mourn his passing but continue to celebrate his life.
