Daniel E. Buechner, 72, of Brandon, FL, died January 13, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Freeport, PA, Dan was the second of three children of the late George and Jean Buechner. He was married to Joanne Marie Pappas of Natrona who preceded him in death in 2015. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Kimberly (Sherry) of Valrico; son, Daniel Jr. of Riverview; three grandchildren, Keri, Kaelan, and Kristina; brother, George (Carol) of Pipe Creek, TX; sister, Amanda (Michael) of Norfolk, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan graduated Freeport High School in 1962 and served in the United States Naval Reserve while attending barber school. His love for the sea led to his enlistment in the United States Coast Guard. His long proud service saw him serving in several duty stations before settling in Brandon, FL. He retired in 1991 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then began All-Pro Occupational Trainers educating businesses on the proper handling of hazardous materials. Dan loved fishing, kayaking and all things military. A proud Friend of Bill W., he helped many with his inspirational story. He celebrated life every day and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His life will be honored with a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 7:00 pm. There will be a graveside service on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 10:00 am at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park.
