Craig Gian Szpila, 62, Passed Away on 6/14/2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Gian Szpila, who left us on 6/14/2023. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Born on 8/19/1960, in Toledo, Ohio, Craig was a beloved son, brother, spouse, father, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of many with his warm heart, gentle spirit, endless giving nature, and unwavering compassion for everyone he encountered. Throughout his life, Craig was known for his big smile and his passion for sports. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Whether it was work or play, he approached every endeavor with dedication and enthusiasm.

Craig will be dearly missed by his family and friends, who will forever remember him for his giving nature to those in need, sense of humor, sports memorabilia abilities, and big smile. He brought joy to all those around him and left an indelible mark on their lives. He will always be remembered by his great nieces and nephews as their "Dodo."

Craig is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 40 years Deborah J. (Tipner) Szpila his sons Craig Joseph Szpila and Steven Wesley Stemm, his sisters Mary Jo Szpila, SND, Jan (Dave) Stout, and Barbara (late Tom) Bocian, his brothers Paul Szpila, Loren Szpila, and Christopher Szpila, his nieces and nephews Allison (Jaime) Feniuk, Ashley (James) Werges, Heather (Timothy) Kvasnicka, Cynthia Taylor, Zak (Tory) Taylor, Katie Bocian, Jan Michael Szpila, and Rhyian Szpila, his great nieces and nephews Austin, Emily, James, Savannah, Elianna, Caroline, Timothy, Noel, Nicholas, Mitchell, Alyssa, and Isaac.

He was predeceased by his father Jan George Szpila, his mother Grace Louise Szpila, his brother Thomas R. Szpila, and his brother Brian M. Szpila. The memory of Craig's vibrant spirit and profound impact will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. We find solace in the knowledge that he is at peace, and we take comfort in the cherished memories we shared with him.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Craig's life will be held at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home located at 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, Florida 33578 on Saturday July, 8 th , 2023. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects. A memorial service for Craig will be held at a later date in his hometown of Oak Forest, Illinois for friends and family. We extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family during this difficult time. May the love and support of friends and the cherished memories of Craig provide comfort and strength in the days ahead. Rest in peace, dear Craig. You will forever remain in our hearts.
