Obituary

FORD, Clyde, 81, of Tampa, entered into God's glory on Friday, November 14, 2014. He was born in Bowling Green, Florida and flew T-33's for the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant fighter pilot. Soon after completing his five years of military service he married Angelina Moya from Honduras, Central America. She was the love of his life and he was her Superman. They had three daughters, Belinda, Melanie, and Stephanie. He was employed at the American Can Company for 26 years as a mechanic. While he worked at the can factory he also moonlighted as a citrus grower, co-owning and planting a forty-acre orange grove in Balm, Florida with his eldest brother, Lamar. When the can company closed in Tampa he opened Liberty Auto Sales, fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning his own business. His love of adventure continued throughout his life as he flew his own private plane landing into the Florida Keys meeting the likes of singer Jimmy Buffett and treasure hunter Mel Fisher. He also had a passion for the ocean being a certified scuba diver, fisherman, and avid boater. He was a lover of life and history reading countless books, educating himself on most topics. He always helped others and even saved the life of a drowning man once, at the risk of his own life. He will be remembered for his cheerful whistling and singing such favorite songs as "El Paso" and "Summertime". His grandchildren will never forget the countless trips to the park to fly kites and building whatever they wanted in his garage. He will be missed forever but his family will fearlessly "take the bull by the horns" in all situations as he always did. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Angelina Ford; his daughters Belinda (Jack) Kramer, Melanie (Marc) Herig, Stephanie (Ronald) Simon. His grandchildren include Lauren Kramer, Nathan Kramer, Alexander Terrell, and Wesley Simon. His siblings, Evelyn Sanchez, Grady (June) Ford, Kenneth (Fay) Ford, Robert (Judie) Ford, Patricia (Fred) Gonzalez, and Gary (Kathy) Ford. His sister-in-laws, Noemi Ford, Eloisa Moya, and Melba Romero. As well as his nieces and nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Lamar Ford, Gordon Ford, Velma Peterson, and Lorraine Parker. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Words of comfort may be expressed at www.serenitymeadows.com.
