Clifton (Lon)
Alonzo Prevatt Iii
June 30, 1963 — May 28, 2021
Clifton Alonzo Prevatt III (Lon)
Lon was born June 30, 1963 and went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2021.
Lon is survived by his mother, Sandy Scott, his former wife Suzanne Deaner and their four children, son Stephen Prevatt and his wife Christen along with their daughter, Lon's granddaughter Amelia, son Cory Prevatt and his wife Caitlin, daughter Laura Prevatt, son Christopher Prevatt, his sisters Charlotte Clark (Alan Clark), Candace Holliday (Jamie Holliday), Crystal Schwilk (Ralf Schwilk), Carrie Foegen along with countless nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved and adored Lon.
Preceded in death, his father Clifton Alonzo Prevatt (C.A.), his stepfather Frank Anthony Scott Sr.,
his nephew Joshua Taylor Belliveau, his paternal grandparents Cliff and Hazel Prevatt, and maternal grandparents Oren and Elouise Adams.
Lon was born in Tampa and raised in Riverview, Florida. As a little boy, he grew up playing baseball at East Bay Little League. He was described as dedicated and determined to being the best at his position.
Lon's love for playing ball along with his gentle spirit, developed friendships that have lasted to this very day.
He graduated from East Bay High School in 1981 and in 1985, He enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed in Fort Ord, California and during this time he met Suzanne and they started a family.
After serving in the Army, he then joined the California National Guard for several years. Lon's love for our country was fierce and he served proudly.
In 2002, Lon came back to Florida to be closer to family. After
Lon moved back, he worked hard and enjoyed anything that involved his children and family. Lon was the fun, goofy dad. He was the dad that was up for anything and would be anywhere his kids asked him to be. He would go to any movie, any restaurant, try new places his children wanted to try, drive to any airport, fly to California to be at the father/daughter dances and as his children say, "Dad was always there". Any major or minor event in his children's life is what he lived for.
Lon made you laugh hard, made you feel good, and had the purest and most genuine heart of anyone you could ever meet. When he would ask you "how are you", he truly wanted to know how you were doing. He cared with every ounce of his being.
Lon's family was the absolute most important thing to him. He is an amazing, caring son, phenomenal father, the best big brother, always the fun Uncle, and a true friend.
Lon grew up with the nickname "Zulu" to all who knew him. He would
love acting like a WWE fighter and to impersonate the Hulk but his heart was as gentle as they come. He was a truly humble and kind man and would give you the shirt off his back.
In May of 2020, Lon became a grandpa for the first time. Known as Papa to his sweet Amelia, she was the definitely the apple of his eye. Just like with his children, he was always there for Amelia. He always showed up even on just a regular day. He didn't want to miss anything with her. And as much as he loved her, she loved him right back just as much. The past year of his life with Amelia was probably the happiest time of Lon's life. He was over the moon happy to be her Papa.
There will always be a void; there will never be another son, dad, Papa, big brother, nephew, uncle, cousin or friend like Lon.
