Obituary

Lee, Clifford J., 70, of Brandon, passed away on January 22, 2021. Cliff was a beloved husband and father who lived a compassionate and selfless life. He and his wife, Cheryl, shared a love story that spanned their 38 years together; expressing their love for each other daily. They moved to the Brandon, Florida area four years ago and made many friends at church and in their neighborhood. Cliff loved being outdoors, hiking, biking, or working in the yard. He enjoyed showing and breeding his beloved Boston Terriers, a good game of golf, and watching sports. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a member of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church.

Cliff began employment with the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland June 4, 1984.  He was first employed as a Code Enforcement Officer II performing Residential and Commercial Building Code inspections.  He was promoted several times, ultimately becoming the Senior Commercial Permitting Manager responsible for performing and supervising Plan Reviewers and Commercial Inspection staff for much of his career.

Cliff retired on March 31, 2017 after a 32-year career with the City.  Throughout Cliff's career, he demonstrated a passion for public safety and customer service, which resulted in earning respect from the business, design, and development community throughout the Washington Metropolitan area as a Building Official.

As a result, the City of Gaithersburg became a model of excellence in Economic and Community Development and integrity of his passion for Public Safety.  That same admiration, especially for his integrity and his passion for public safety, was shared by virtually every City employee he worked with over his long career.

Clifford is survived by his loving family, his wife, Cheryl; children, Traci Neville, Ronald Boyer, James Boyer, and Ryan Lee; his siblings, Mary K Lee and Terrence Lee; and grandchildren, Kristina Neville, Stephanie Neville, David James Boyer, and Carley Hoover and his loving friend Wes Burnette.

All whom loved him dearly will never forget his tenacity, sense of humor, charm, grace and undying love for his family and friends.
