Chumphol Mahapaurya, M.D. 69, of Plant City passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Born in Bangkok, Thailand, "Dr. Maha" began his medical career in New York where he headed the OBGYN Department at Greenpoint Hospital. He was also the clinical instructor for the residency program at Kings County Hospital Center, Brooklyn. In 1980 he moved to Plant City where he continued his practice in Plant City and Brandon where he was affiliated with South Florida Baptist Hospital and Brandon Regional Medical Center. He enjoyed his family, golf, tennis, singing and painting. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Taepee, son; Jerry, daughter; Chandra and his sister; Pimpagar Mahapaurya. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadow Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
