McNamara (Nielsen), Catherine; born on April 4, 1948, Cathy concluded her courageous 7 year battle with cancer on 10/22/12. She joins her mother, father, aunts and uncles with the Lord. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ed; two sons, Brett and Kevin; her brother Bob, (Linda); brothers in law Greg (Lisa), Thomas (Karen) and sister in law Ellen Reed (David). Cathy loved her mother and father in law as though they were her own. She also has a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Cathy converted to Catholicism in 1985 and remained a vibrant Catholic since. She taught religious ed classes at Holy Family in Hazlet New Jersey for many years and loved teaching children about God. She was heavily involved with the Knights of Columbus auxiliary and belonged to the Nativity Women's Guild. She especially cherished her monthly meeting with the "Bunco Girls". She will always be remembered for her complete dedication to her family, ever present smile, sparkling personality and kind demeanor towards everyone. She will be sorely missed. The family especially wants to thank everyone at Moffit and Lifepath Hospice. The kindness and compassion shown by people of these organizations on a daily basis under the most difficult circumstances is truly amazing. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Nativity Catholic Church at 11am. A viewing for friends and family will be on Monday October 29, 2012 from 2-4, 6-8pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Cathy's name be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center or Lifepath Hospice of Hillsborough County. May Cathy rest in peace with the Lord.
