Caroline Madeline Goenner, a vibrant soul from Lithia, Florida, left us peacefully on July 21, 2026, just shy of her 82nd birthday. Born to John and Vera DeBenedetto in Brooklyn, New York, Caroline carried with her the spirited charm of her birthplace throughout her life.

A proud alumna of John Adams High School, Caroline channeled her creativity into a flourishing career as a hair stylist. Her life was further enriched at 14 when she met Joseph Goenner, her beloved husband, with whom she shared 65 beautiful years. She enjoyed fishing, boating, scuba diving, and spending time with her family and friends. Holidays and family gatherings were always memorable Italian celebrations, filled with delicious food, endless laughter, and the love of those closest to her. Her infectious laugh and the joy she brought to every gathering created memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Caroline’s legacy lives on in her cherished family: her children Bonnie and Ben Akim, Joseph Goenner and Laura Fisher, Millie and Dan Shikes, and Alfred and Heather Goenner. Her grandchildren, Caroline Akim, Bennet Akim Jr., Tyler Goenner, Soph Shikes, Alyssa Goenner, Joshua Polly, Andrew Shikes, Alexandra Goenner, and great-grandchild, Junior Wade, carry forward her laughter and wisdom. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph and her parents John & Vera DeBenedetto.

Dearly loved by her brothers Thomas and John DeBenedetto, her memory is also held close by her nephew, John-John DeBenedetto, alongside many friends and relatives who will miss her deeply.
