Carl George Shaffer, 87, of Valrico, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 11, 2009. Born in Clintonville, Pennsylvania, Mr. Shaffer had been a local area resident since 1968. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon where he was the Head Volunteer for buildings and grounds. A WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, Mr. Shaffer was retired as regional operations manager of Power Piping Company and a member of the Harper Valley Hunting Club. He loved volunteering at church and watching his grandson play pro-football. Survivors include his loving wife of eight years, Ann, sons; Andy (Cathy) Shaffer, Don (Joyce) Shaffer, Step-daughter; Monica Gerena, sister; Helen Farrior, several nieces and nephews, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his first wife of 54 years Myrtle Shaffer and his sister Joan.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at 10 AM at First Baptist Church of Brandon. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11 AM, May 14, 2009 with Dr. Tommy Green officiating.
