Burtis Campbell

Burtis Campbell of Brandon, FL passed away Wednesday, September 2 ^nd at Stone Ledge Manor.

He was predeceased by his wife Minnie Elizabeth (Betty).  Burt was born in Ary, Kentucky and is the son of Willard and Sadie Campbell.

Burt was a standout basketball player at Martin High School.  After graduation he moved to Tampa, FL.  In 1951 he joined the Marine Corp. and served as a machine gunner in the Korean campaign and discharged in 1954. He was a proud Marine until his death.

He moved back to Thonotosassa, FL where he worked for Maas Brothers before moving to Tampa Electric where he worked for 32 years.  His TECO family was very dear to him.

Burt loved sports and gave of himself to youth league baseball as a coach.  He touched so many lives and stories flow that bring many smiles to his friends faces.  His outgoing personality was always welcomed.  He had a passion for fishing and was very good at it.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Stuart, Curtis, Cultis, Burney, and Ed and survived by his sisters Willena Campbell, Alene Bates and Pauline Campbell Maciorowski.

Burt is the father of son Michael (Chere) and daughter Roberta.  He was the stepfather of Ronald Barns (deceased), Wanda Sealy, Pamela Hilliard, Robin Barns (Vicki).  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Pops, you were special.  We loved you dearly and miss you greatly.  May you rest in peace knowing you will never be forgotten.

Funeral proceedings will be held at Serenity Meadows Memorial Parks Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road Riverview, FL on Thursday, September 10 ^th , with visitation from 9:45am - 10:45am and a graveside service at Providence Cemetery at Providence Church at 11:00am.
