Obituary

Betty J. Williams age 92 of Tampa Florida, passed away July 9th, 2025 after a long life.  Betty Jean was born on September 13,1932 to William J and Victoria D. Harvey in Tampa Florida and was raised in Mobile, Alabama.  Following school, she had a beloved baby girl, Laura Ann.  In 1962, she met Jesse James (Jim) Holloway (deceased), moved to Ocala, Florida and had four children.  Following Jim's death, with Betty Jean's strong will and unwavering determination she raised her children.  Starting out as a bookkeeper, Betty Jean rose through the corporate ranks culminating as a Vice President at Central Florida Oil.  Involved in every facet of her children's activities, she chaperoned numerous Choir trips to places like Westminster Abbey, she trailered horses to all parts of Florida to participate in shows.  She began to take dance classes like tap, jazz, and ballet and volunteered to maintain the Dance Studio's accounts.  Betty Jean used her crafting talent for set builds and sewing skills for costumes to support the yearly Nutcracker production.  For over 20+ years, she appeared in many of the productions as part of the cast.  In retirement, Betty jean put her passion into travel, gardening and caring for her four-legged fur babies.  She and family members took numerous cruises to the Caribbean and Europe, beach trips along the eastern seaboard, and traveled to the mountains.  She saw the Christmas lights in NYC, the horse track in Saratoga, and the history in Boston, MA.  In 2022, she moved to Tampa, enjoying walks in the park, lunching with ladies, outings to the Aquarium, Zoo, and local theater.  Preceded in death by her parents William and Victoria as well as siblings Charles, William, Juanita, and Shirley, she is survived by her five children Laura (Art), Todd (Wendy), Teri, Lisa, and Robin (David), four grandchildren Ashley Wood, Chris Holloway, Tiffany Johnson, Hillary Clayton and seven great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter.  We thank Missy and her family for their love and devotion to Betty Jean these past couple of years.
