Symmes, Betty P. 80, of Sun City Center, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2011. Born in Arcadia, Florida Mrs. Symmes has been a Sun City resident for five years after moving from Satellite Beach. She and her husband Lewis were founding members of the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church, and was also a member of Melbourne Alumnae Panhellenic, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and P.E.O. A retired school teacher, Mrs. Symmes enjoyed caring for her family, Mah Jong, music and fishing. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Lewis, son; Lew (Teresa) and her granddaughter, Alicia (Joey) Lightsey. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Sun City Center United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Hackney Cemetery.
