Betty Kellum Peche, loving mother of seven children, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, passed away peacefully at home in the morning hours of January 2, 2022. She was 92 years old, Born Betty Doris Kellum in Ft. Worth, TX on September 14, 1929, Betty played classical piano, took dance and enjoyed horseback riding. As a child, Betty and her mother, Thelma Irene Kellum, moved to Chicago where Betty was accepted to attend Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. Betty met the love of her life, Harry Henry Peche, a WWII Navy Veteran, in her senior year. The two were married 64 years. Together, they were active in the VFW where she served in the Women's Auxiliary for 25 years and was a volunteer at the James Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa.
Betty was preceded in death by husband Harry in 2012 and son Dale Henry Peche in 2018. She is survived by daughters Dannah White, Sandra Barrett, Nancy Benech, Wanda Monroe, Barbra Young and son Fred Peche.
As family matriarch, Betty enjoyed hosting family gatherings. She loved a houseful of family and was always happy and laughing when they were together. The bigger the gathering, the more fun she had. Betty was a loving, patient, giving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. With a keen memory, great sense of humor and knack for telling stories, she was great company to everyone.
Godspeed in your new journey Betty. You will be missed and loved in our hearts and memories forever.
