Bernard Francis Hill, 79, a resident of The Bridges in Riverview, Florida passed away peacefully at Tampa General Hospital on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

Born March 11, 1937, in Wigan, Lancashire, England and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He joined the United States Navy in 1956 and married Rita Jane Mergl in 1972. They shared 37 wonderful years together. Bernie worked as an electrician for Con Edison for more than 25 years. The family moved to Spring Hill, FL in 1994 and spent most of their later years in Lithia, FL.

Bernie loved to tell jokes and his humor will live on through his family who has kept a record of his best loved and most told funnies. He was an avid bowler and loved cats.

He is survived by his children, a daughter and two sons, Aubrey (and Jorge Diaz), Daniel Hill, Edward Hill, and his two grandsons, Matthew Primrose, Jr. and Oliver Diaz. There are two additional grandchildren on the way.

A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 7th. He will be laid to rest during a burial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8th. Both the viewing and the burial service will take place at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL 33578, (813) 677-9494.
