Ray, Benjamin Terrell, 87, passed away on December 10, 2014, in Brandon, FL with his family by his side. He was born in Tampa, grew up in Hyde Park, joined the Merchant Marines and served for 2 years. After the service he moved to Brandon and worked for US Phosphoric (now Mosiac) forty years. Ben enjoyed hunting and spending time with family at his property on Tiger Lake riding the pontoon and air-boats. He was an avid ball room dancer. Ben was preceded in death by his parents Terrell and Hallie (Wood) Ray, his brother Billy Ray, and former wife Mavis Ray. Ben is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Jean Grose, Lorraine Rhodes (Randy), Suzanne Thompson (Rodney), Sheri Brown, and his son, Terrell Ray (Justin Boutwell); five grandchildren, Douglas Grose (Christine), Christina Nolte (Bruce), David Everton (Chelsea), Erica Brown, Cody Brown; his great-grandchildren Sofia and Liam; and his niece and nephews Celeste, Bill, and Robert Ray. The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, Riverview, FL.
