Kanter, Barry, 81, of Lithia, FL passed away May 3, 2022 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he graduated from Newton High School and earned a Bachelors of Arts from George Washington University. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edith. He is survived by his wife Linda; sons David and Douglas; grandchildren Whitney and Brady; brother Richard; and sister Lois.

Barry was a loving husband, a generous and hardworking father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. He met his future wife of 52 years while on vacation. They later relocated to Golden's Bridge, NY where they lived for 30 years. He loved being a father and rejoiced in the successes of his sons. He was always eager to help by volunteering as a soccer coach, PTA president, or school event organizer. Barry was never shy about chatting up strangers while waiting in line. He was quick to laugh, especially while rewatching his favorite Mel Brooks movies. Barry loved Thanksgiving, cherishing the opportunity to host family and friends. And no matter where he lived, he never stopped rooting for the Boston Red Sox.

Barry worked at IBM for 42 years. Many colleagues who became lifelong friends remember him as being one of a kind. A highlight of his career was leading a Business Transformation program in Asia-Pacific. This work took him to Japan, Australia, and Singapore, where he and Linda lived for several years. After retiring to Florida 20 years ago, he served as the Treasurer of his homeowners association and volunteered for political campaigns.
