Obituary

Audrey Gogel Lipking, 67, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, after a long, courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born on December 31, 1957, in Evansville to the late William and Rosalind (Meyer) Gogel. Audrey graduated from Memorial High School in 1976 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from Purdue University in 1980. She went on to complete a Master's Degree in Public Administration at Indiana State University in 1984. Later in life, after caring for her husband during illness, Audrey was inspired to pursue nursing and proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana in 2006.

Audrey dedicated her career to public health and patient care. She began as an immunization representative for the Vanderburgh County Department of Health (1982–1987), later serving with the Child Health Service/WIC program (1987–1991). After several years as a stay-at-home mom, she returned as Director of WIC (1997–2000). From 2001–2004, while working as a personal trainer, she pursued her nursing degree, then worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital (2004–2007). She concluded her career as a clinical specialist in neuromodulation with Medtronic, where she worked from 2007 until her retirement in 2018.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Audrey will be remembered most for the warmth of the community she created and the countless lives she touched along the way. She carried herself with humility and resilience, approaching each day with curiosity, empathy, and a genuine joy for life. Hardworking yet selfless, driven yet fun-loving, she found her greatest happiness in caring for others and cherishing time with her family.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 36 years, Harold "Ted" Lipking; her children, Chloe Lipking (Tim Koechlein), Kelsey Lipking (Nicolas Ruiz), and Keith Lipking; her sister Sharon Hicks (Ernie) and brother George Gogel (Kathy); and her grandchildren, Quinn and Minka Koechlein. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Don Gogel, and many aunts and uncles.

A celebration of Audrey's life will be held at a later date. Please visit browningfuneral.com for updates.
