Obituary

PADRON, Anna Roberta, 89, passed away December 8, 2007 in Brandon. She was born July 29, 1918 in Yukon, Pennsylvania, the 10th of 12 children of the late John and Mary Tomajko. She was preceded in death in March 1972 by her husband of 31 years, Capt. Manuel Padron, one of the founders of the Miami Fire Department Rescue division, as well as by her grandson Christopher Tompkins in 2005 and son-in-law Chris Tompkins in 2001. She is survived by her loving family, daughters Mary Anna (Robert) McDougall of Orlando, Betty Jo Tompkins, Brandon, son, Ronald (Martha) Padron, West Palm Beach, grandchildren Michael (Susie) McDougall, Anna McDougall, Catherine (Joe) Lamberty, Christine McDougall, Ron Padron and Andrew Padron, three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony and Gabriel Lamberty and sister-in-law, Delores Tomajko. Anna was devoted to her faith, family and community. In Miami, were she resided until 2001, she served as a five term President of the Allapattah Women's Club, Vice-President of the Dade County Federation of Women's Clubs, Board Member of Barry University, Salvation Army volunteer, and in numerous other clubs and organizations. She was named Outstanding South Florida Community Volunteer and a Paul Harris Fellow. A devoted Catholic, she lectured at St. Robert Bellarmine Church for many years. Besides her devotion to family, she loved college and professional sports, cooking shows, entertainment and travel. She spoke multiple languages and had a lifetime love of learning. She leaves a grieving family and many friends whom she touched with her love, kindness and generosity. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Nativity Catholic Church, Brandon. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 14, 2007 at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, Riverview, from 6 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association in her loving memory.
