Van Ness, Allen John, 66, of Riverview, passed away on February 15, 2009. Allen was born on November 21, 1942 in Queen, NY. He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Madeline Van Ness. He is survived by his loving family, wife of 45 years, Geraldine "Geri" M. Van Ness; daughters, Donna Van Ness, Laurie Ann Scalia, Patricia Ann Steen (Bill); son, Allen John "AJ" Van Ness II (Michelle); grandchildren, John, Mathew, Christopher, Timothy, Dylan, Kayla, Brandon and Frankie; siblings, Elizabeth White, Rosemary Cope, Madeline Craig (Peter), David Van Ness, Jane Jones (Gary) and many nieces and nephews. Allen was a member and past Sr. Vice Commander of VFW Post 8108 Riverview, a member of Figure 8 Hall of Fame Bayshore, NY, the crew chief for his son's figure 8 car and three other figure 8 drivers, and the cook-chief for Hidden River RV Resort. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. Allen's funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to LifePath Hospice 3723 Upper Creek Dr, Ruskin, FL 33573.
