Obituary

BOLGREN, Agnes L. Hicks "Aggie", 70, of Brandon, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, was taken in the arms of angels September 10, 2008, to join her beloved husband, father, mother, nephew and friends in heaven. Aggie was married to Jake for 45 years until his death in 2006. She is survived by her son, Gerald W. Bolgren, Jr. (Zelda) and her daughter, Jacalyn Ann Bowman; grandchildren Gerald W. Bolgren, III "JB", Geoffrey William Bolgren, Andra Lea Bowman "Andi", and Zenovia Andrea Bolgren; her sisters LeDell Fortner (James) and Joyce Jordan (John); and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Jennings, Florida on December 10, 1937. She was raised in Safety Harbor and Plant City, Florida. She graduated from Plant City High School and Gordon Keller School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse since 1958. Her nursing career included Tampa General Hospital, Lompoc General Hospital in Lompoc, CA, Cheyenne Hospital in Cheyenne, WY and a long and distinguished career at Brandon Regional Hospital, where she coordinated the Infection Control Program and was active in the local and state chapters of Infection Control Nursing until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed the opportunities provided by Jake's Air Force career allowing them to live and raise their family in numerous locations, her favorite being Germany, until his retirement to Brandon in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brandon, where she was active on Health and Welfare Committees and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She joins her husband in heaven following a long illness with Ovarian Cancer. She was a shining example of courage and toughness for 8 years and will be remembered by her good-natured attitude even on her roughest days. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Brandon, 120 N. Knights Avenue. A family visitation/reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, LifePath Hospice or the First United Methodist Church of Brandon's Building Fund. Many thanks are given to Dr. Lewis Auerbach and his staff for their kind and compassionate care during the length of her illness and to the nurses and aides of the Indigo and Continuous Care teams of LifePath Hospice.
