Obituary

Agnes, Francis Arnold, 86, owner of Michigan-based Arnold Amusements passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 in Riverview Florida. Agnes was born November 11, 1936 in Traverse City Michigan the daughter of Roman and Anna (Herman) Garvin. She married the love of her life Ivan Arnold on November 8, 1958 at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City, Michigan. Together with her husband, Ivan and their children, Tom, Sandy, and Jon, Agnes was at the helm of the Michigan-based Arnold Amusements Office. She set a precedent within the industry, defining what it meant to be a true Show Woman. She was a woman of many talents and a force to be reckoned with. She tended to the office, instilled a work ethic into her children and worked side by side with her husband, all while simultaneously managing the homefront. While home with the children during the weeks of the spring months she took it upon herself to put a new roof on their house and poured a backyard patio with only the help of a beloved elderly neighborhood carpenter.
She was never one to back down from a challenge meeting each one head on. As the years progressed and health issues crept in, she turned the day to day activities over to her husband and children but remained on the road with her family where she diligently kept an eye on the midway that was her home. Agnes had a generous spirit finding joy in giving to family, friends or anyone in need. Coming from meager beginnings to creating a successful business, she eventually acquired quite an affinity for all things bling! Her signature look always included a sprinkling of sequins, rhinestones and jewelry. She was meticulous about her hair appointments come rain or shine (or even an occasional monsoon!) and one only needed to mention the prospect of a trip to a casino and she could be ready to go in 10 minutes flat. It was a blessing to watch her enjoying the fruits of her labor, cheering for 7's at her favorite slot machine! Agnes had a larger than life personality and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Agnes is survived by her Children; Tom Arnold; Sandy Schmidt and Jon (Karen) Arnold; five Grandchildren; Alex (Chané), Lauren, and Jillian (Blake) Arnold, Josh (Hannah) and Kyle (Courtney) Schmidt, Great Grandchildren; Marley, Harper, Jemma, and Quinn Schmidt; Chloe and Thompson Jay Schmidt; Colton Dunn, and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Great Granddaughter Amelia Jane Arnold (due in June) Sister; Susan (Don) Fritz, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband Ivan, Parents; Roman and Anna (Herman) Garvin, Brother; Harry Garvin, Sister; Louise Plamondon, Father and Mother-in- Law; Lester and Mabel (Olman) Arnold; Brother in Laws; Junior, George and James Arnold; Sister in Laws; Edith (Willie) Compton, Claudia (Junior)Arnold, and her beloved Son in Law; Terry Jay Schmidt.
