Obituary

Adolph "Andy" Carril Jr., 87, of Lithia, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Andy was born on September 12, 1938, in the Bronx, New York, to Adolph and Elena Carril, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Sewanhaka High School in 1956 and proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1959 as an Aviation Electrician's Mate Second Class (AE2).

Following his honorable discharge, Andy began his career at Grumman Aerospace Corporation while simultaneously pursuing higher education. Through dedication and hard work, he earned his bachelor's degree from Hofstra University.

In 1975, Andy relocated to Florida, where he obtained an electrical teaching certificate through the Florida Department of Education. He went on to serve as a Vocational Instructor with the Department of Offender Rehabilitation, where he shared his technical knowledge and commitment to discipline, education, and opportunity with countless students.

Andy later became employed by Raymond James & Associates, Inc., where he built a distinguished career as a Financial Advisor and Branch Manager. He dedicated 25 years to the firm before retiring, earning the respect and trust of clients and colleagues alike.

Andy had a deep love for boating and being out on the water. This passion led him to become a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He later joined the Fleet Reserve Association, where he was a member for over 10 years and participated in a multitude of events and activities, always eager to serve and represent the FRA with pride.

He was a devoted member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, dedicated to his church, faith, and community. Andy was an active participant in the Knights of Columbus Finance Council and a legacy donor, supporting the church and its mission with generosity and commitment.

Andy will be remembered for his quiet strength, resilience, strong work ethic, and lifelong dedication to service, learning, and love for family. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sally Carril; his daughter, Linda Vaughan; and his son-in-law, Michael Vaughan. He is survived by his three children, Josephine Kartheiser (Jeffrey), Susan Magann (Andrew), and Mark Carril (Lisa); 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 11am, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 10118 St. Stephen Circle, Riverview, Florida. ( can be viewed virtually at ststephencatholic.org) A committal service will immediately follow for family members at Resurrection Cemetery, 10668 East Sligh Avenue, Seffner, Florida.

May he rest in the peace of Christ and rise in glory.
